About

My name is Gerry Rosser, I live in Cape Cod in the summers and Florida the rest of the time.  I play guitar. I take pictures. I don’t work.  I used to.

Here’s the thing: Why is there something instead of nothing?

If you come here to spam, don’t bother. Don’t pretend you find my blog interesting or some such crap, when you are trying to sell me something.

“Conservative” diatribes will be deleted. Dialogue is welcome, “Limbaughism” is not.

  1. Nice new look! Clean and crisp…

  2. Hi Gerry! I just mentioned you and your terrific blog on BEYOND Understanding. Feel free to check out today’s post (9-2) whenever you get a chance. Have a great weekend! K.

  3. Is Cape Cod as pretty as that? I’ve never been there. All those silvery colors.

  4. I read your critique about the Gulf Coast recovery on Common Dreams. As someone who lived thru Katrina, I agree with your assessment. Although I will defend those who did have enough insurance. It is still such a mess down there I had to leave, and I had job security and only minor damage to my house.

  5. Your HDR photos are absolutely fantastic. They have inspired me to begin a new hobby. I also recognize most of your images since I live in Heathrow, Florida; and I’ve been to many of the places you photograph (Gemini Springs, Mount Dora, and the Ped Bridge over I-4 just a mile from my house). I have so many questions for you!

  6. Mike, ask away. Thanks for the compliment.

  7. For starters, which camera(s) do you use? I want a dslr but there’s a lot of chatter about which brands are best.

I get such a kick seeing the hdr photos of places I see everyday!

  8. I use a Canon RebelXti. I think there is now a Rebel version more current than the Xti, but it does everything I want. You might find bargains on it if indeed it has been superseded (like there were on the Xt when the Xti came along).

I have gotten considerable advice I deem expert and unbiased that Canon is ahead of Nikon in the digital world, but I don’t see how you could go wrong with either.

You need a camera which can shoot in RAW format, for sure.

  9. Hi Gerry,

Fantastic photos, really. As a matter of fact, I like them so much, I would like to use 1 or 2 for my local real estate website, I would post a credit to you if you like and give you a great listing on my “LINK” page. You may check my website at http://www.toddbaz.com. More explicitly, because I like to feature “local flavor” photos, I would be putting you on my Falmouth Waterfront Homes section. If not, I understand whole-heartedly. Keep up the good work, Todd, Todd K. Bazarewsky, local realtor, http://www.ToddBaz.com

  10. Hi there. I stumbled upon a comment you made on Zeno’s blog- I thought it might be you- but wasn’t sure. So, with a bit of clicking here and there, I found you.
    How have you been?
    (PS I’m your niece Rachel)

  11. Hey- I just wanted to double check- you left a comment on Travis’ blog that you got the t-shirts. I’ll be at WDW in a few days, and wanted to just make sure it was all taken care of. Could you let me know for sure and for certain? Otherwise I’ll spend my whole vacation going “should I pick them up just in case?”. :-) Thanks.

  12. I found your Wekiva fog image from Wilson’s Landing Park while researching a little about that site. That shot is one of the best Wekiva scenes I’ve found. Very impressive. Your bio at the top says you live in Florida part time. Let me know when you return. I’d like to give you a copy of my Wekiva history book (lots of archive photos) when it comes out in November. (I wish I had some of your images when I was doing the book.)
