Ten Things Tuesday?

Colorful tropical fish swimming in the rare Cactus Kelp. Actually, of course, this is Disney. Epcot.

I have decided to try a 10 things Tuesday thingie, the question mark above indicates something, but I forget what.

1. My brother’s flight from Peoria to Sanford was canceled yesterday due to fog. He’s rescheduled for this afternoon.

2. I thought Bill Belichick’s stomping off the field of the Super Bowl before the game ended was bush league. It is no more than I have come to expect from this fellow. His short postgame interview indicated he was a sore loser. He should learn from the classiness of his own players. Cheater Bill is nothing but a churlish boor in my book. I am at a loss, however, to attribute much significance to this particular TV show over others I’ve watched over the years, like: “$1.98 Beauty of the Week”; “The Howdy Doody Show”; and many others too numerous to mention.

3. I sent late birthday greetings to my sister. I confused her birthdate with that of my former (and only) wife. A four day swing (1/27 vs. 1/31). Hmmm, is that Freudian? Anyway, I announce here for all to read: I love her.

4. I note, in passing and disgust, the use for mentally-challenged women the Moors have found (i.e. packing ‘em with explosives and blowing ‘em up in crowds). Other than this, they seem to have little use for women in general. By the way, my use of the term “Moors” from time to time reflects only my disdain for those Muslims who engage in wholesale murder of innocents to prove a point I, frankly, am unable to discern. It seems their terrorist agenda is about as clear-cut as ours in Iraq.

5. I was searching the local info sources (and some not so local) for some musical experience to share with my brother during his visit. Searching in vain. Those of you who live in the Boston area, and other hotbeds of musical endeavor, are to be envied. No Club Passim here. For that matter no Ark (Ann Arbor). No Freight & Salvage (Berkely). Sigh.

6. I have had to lay off my bike riding for several days due to the unnamed malaise I’ve had since Friday. Tummy couldn’t take it. Hoping for better today–maybe in a few minutes here.

7. For some reason I was thinking about restaurant recommendations I’ve received from others during my life. With very few exceptions, the food was awful. No accounting for taste. I guess inconsistency of performance by the establishments should be factored in. A notable exception was Mustard’s in the Napa Valley. Yummy.

8. I ate some more of my Honey’s delicious chicken soup last night. I vaguely recall some study was done which indicated this potion actually does help one emerge from ill health. She makes it with some vegetables, usually carrots, celery, and parsnips. I love parsnips. My Honey has an old friend who hates parsnips, and does not even like to hear them mentioned. Is there a word for parsnip phobia? When my tummy is puny, she omits the celery from my bowl on the theory it is stringy and may aggravate things. Is that love or what?

9. Today is “Super Tuesday.” That just occurred to me (relative to my first Ten Things Tuesday). If the performance of the majority of Democrats in the House and Senate is any indicator, I expect little even if we get a Democratic president. As for the Republicans, I continue to wonder why they assert their “leadership” credentials while pandering to the neo-cons instead of leading them.

10. Whew! I just might make 10 things. Lessee. C’mon, give me a sec’ here. Oh, yeah. I gave Babycakes another guitar lesson yesterday. Truth is, her eyes glaze over when I try to get her going. Guess what? I don’t care. We have fun together. Truth is, I think, the idea of playing guitar comes to a lot of youngsters, but the physical act of playing the guitar, fretting notes cleanly and playing them, actually learning the fundamentals, rises up like unto the Rockies between Lewis and Clark and the mighty Pacific. I refuse to try to inveigle her to take it seriously or to charge her to practice. I hope she is absorbing some of my love of music, and the guitar, and, more than that, learning even more that I love her without condition.

How’d I do?

Thanks for your Ten Things Tuesday!

Your statement, “I thought Bill Belichick’s stomping off the field of the Super Bowl before the game ended was bush league”, was absolutely correct. That was a classless end to a fine season.

You did GREAT, Gerry! Welcome to the Ten Things Tuesday party!!

I LOVED Finding Nemo - it’s one of my favorite Pixar joints - but those fish models in Epcot are CREEPY. I think it’s the red eyes.

I wish that someone had taken me aside when I was a little girl and taught me how to play an instrument, and I’m secretly envious of my daughters’ flute and violin lessons. I wish I could make music…

#10 is my favorite. Hugs to your princess from Denver, K.

[...] added Auntie to the list, and Organic Mama also tries to do a weekly list post.  Gerry posted a Ten Things Tuesday this week (and I’m hoping he does it again).  I’m pretty sure Liv did one a week or two ago, but [...]
