Superhero Girls

blue-doors-opt500.jpg
Blue Doors, in the Port of Entry part of Universal’s Islands of Adventure, near Orlando. This image was shot as a RAW file, then converted by Photomatix to a pseudo-HDR (”pseudo” because a true HDR uses more than one image). I kicked it around a little with Photoshop Elements 5, and posted it on up.

Over the year and some that I’ve been blogging, I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with a number of smart, strong, and caring people. Today I’m thinking particularly of the women I’ve encountered, all of whom have shown incredible strength (and patience with my crusty nature), and all of whom have had some travails since I got to know them through this medium: family, money, health, children, the whole gamut. I offer up what words of kindness and encouragement I can, and always hope that things go well with them. They know who they are, and to avoid the risk of forgetting someone, I’m going to assume they’ll read this post, and know they are on my mind. They have shown grace, strength, and a form of caring to light up the world.

Here’s a song I like which I’m dedicating to all my female blogging friends, Corrinne May singing “Little Superhero Girl” to an anime film:

While looking for the song, I found that someone had taught a class of young women to sing this song, and it touched me:

Thanks for everything.

I love you, too, Gerry.

What a great song–the kind that makes you feel stronger just hearing it.

Thanks for the friendship and the inspiration, Gerry.

I was treating myself to this while I peed after I’d done a portion of the much neglected holiday baking and before I went out into the freezing cold to walk the much neglected dog and the song was bringing tears to my eyes. Then the cats knocked over the baking and broke a glass and I had to listen to the rest of it while chasing ground glass and vanilla wafer crumbs across my floor. The combination made my cry.

Thank you. You’re very cool too.

Gerry, this is such a tribute. I just saw your comment on Patry’s blog; she’s top on my list of strong women, too. K.

Thanks.

Thank you! This song made my evening. :)

Gerry :)

This made me day! Thank you so much for posting this.

I hope your holiday season is blessed!

Oh, dear. Here I am crying at a cartoon…

Hugs to my favorite Gerry.

Thanks, Mr. Two Blue Day.

Your posts are always wonderful and usually very thoughtful. Today’s was a thoughtful, loving and kind thing.

Thanks, it was a great gift.
