Chase the Buffalo

buffalo-3414-opt-500.jpg
Indians of long ago,
Followed after Buffalo.
They found a use for every part,
Everything except his heart.

I have wandered like those herds.
Lost in music lost in words.”
(Pierce Pettis: Chase the Buffalo).

Today is my birthday. I got up this morning, made my coffee, and perched in front of the computer, and not until I saw the date on a page did I remember it was my birthday. I guess it has truly become just another day. Oh, I got a few cards, and my clan is having dinner for me (at home, my request).

The founder of the Weather Channel (a channel which makes C-Span look exciting) has weighed in on Global Warning. He says it’s the biggest scam in history, “dastardly” scientists with an “environmental and political” agenda have manipulated data to further their cause. He adds the caveat that this screed does not mean he’s against conservation. Hmmm. If the latter were true (i.e. he’s in favor of conservation), why would he need to refer to Global Warming at all, let alone as a “scam?” To my untrained eye, conservation is just about the only real response there can be to Global Warming (i.e. there is no known method for removing masses of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the atmosphere), and conservation is good for everyone on Earth (despite what Herr Cheney says), so why the rant? A political agenda perhaps? If you are such a conservationist, well, speak out on that subject from your bully pulpit, and, P.S. get rid of those stupid “Storm Stories” and such crap in your evening programming!

Happy birthday, Old Man!! Many, many more, too!

The Weather Channel annoys me. When I turn it on, I want the forecast, not a bunch of hyped up, over-dramatized specialty shows. Grrr..

Happy birthday from Denver, Gerry! Now turn the TV off and go take some more photos for us to gawk at. :)

Happy Belated Birthday! What did you get to eat for your birthday dinner? Was there cake?

Buffaloes are bizarre. They’re all dirty and matted and nasty but also manage to look sort of cuddly and inviting.

Happy Birthday. Mine was Nov. 16th. We took four of us and seven extended family members to see the Chattanooga Christian School production of The Wizard of Oz. No kidding, the school had the flying apparatus for the witches, flying monkeys and
Dorothy!
