Daydream Poetry

Big Red Ball, originally uploaded by twoblueday. Ixora.

If I left the window open I believe they could come in

The spirits of the meadow, the spirits of the fen

I believe Water Isis, out drifting on the wind,

Could waft above the painted sill

I believe she could come in.

I believe they’d share my lunchtime

And help me take a nap.

And sleep with me in gentle day

And rest while curtains flap.

If I left the window open I believe I could drift out

To the shady forest glen when blue-eyed Mary’s out.

I believe that I could pick some and not be stung by bees.

I could put them by the window

I believe they’d like the breeze.

[Note: for those unfamiliar with it, the blue-eyed mary is a beautiful blue and white wildflower that grows, in my experience in well-watered shady forest floors, wonderful aroma, my memory says like Old Spice, bees love it]

How could I ever forget the blue-eyed mary smell? One of my favorite days was the surprise of finding them.
