Adios Alberto– this guy was nothing but a Bush toady and apparatchik, whose loyalty to himself, Bush, and the Republican Party far outweighed any loyalty he may have had to the U.S. Constitution and the American People. He believed in torture, warrantless spying on Americans, and who knows what else. I could only laugh when Prez whined about this guy’s name being “drug through the mud. ” It has long been a staple of the right-wingers, the Republicans, to smear anyone who dares disagree with them (not to mention “outing” Valerie Plame). Nobody has smeared Alberto, he is just a lying, incompetent Yes man who got caught out. I agree with Mr. Edwards: “Better late than never.[Edwards's comment when Mr. Rove shipped out: "Goodbye and good riddance."]
Actually, more than one bites the dust. Senator Larry Craig is, hopefully, gone forever from the public eye, or will be soon. This gay-bashing holier-than-thou shitheel is getting his comeuppance. I just watch him make his statement–he didn’t say nothin’ except that he pleaded guitly although he was innocent. Guess what–anyone who believes that is an idiot. Basically, the man swore on his oath that he committed the acts/facts charged against him, that he was pleading guilty for no other reason than that he was in fact guilty. This guy ain’t no scared fifteen year old charged with shoplifting, folks, but a powerful, sophisticated man-of-the-world. He knew the score. After basically relating not one fact, not one word about what actually occurred there in the toilet, he catches his breath and blames a newspaper! Apparently the local rag has been on his case (about what he didn’t say–of course), and because of that, he pleaded guilty to a bum rap in Minneapolis. [more about the press below] When in doubt–blame the press!
Before anyone chimes in to say that both major political parties in this country have had their share of crooks, hypocrites, shitheels and liars, I already know that to be true. I just have a particular dislike for the self-righteous ones, who preach rectitude and religion, for the sole purpose of getting votes, and who, when the down gets to dirty, are just snake-oil salespersons.
The Press. I musta watched CNN for a couple hours surrounding Mr. Craig’s whining press conference. I heard not one single word of any kind which might have intimated what the newspaper Mr. Craig complained of had been doing to annoy him. For all I know, the rag might have been engaging in an unfair campaign of innuendo. A smear. I would still laugh at Mr. Craig’s connecting the newspaper’s stories to his conduct, whatever it was, in a public toilet, and his blaming his guilty plea upon that. Still, I think good journalism would have required CNN to give us some information about this subject.
